The longest torch relay

     I just find out that Olympic torch will have the longest relay in the history!!!  :O

"It will cover 83 towns and cities, one for every region in Russia, covering nine time zones on a 65,000 km journey, and taking in a distance equal to more than one and a half times around the circumference of the world. It will travel to the bottom of Lake Baikal, the world's deepest lake, and cross 32 million railway sleepers, mostly on the Trans-Siberian train. It will be carried by planes, trains, buses, river barges, a mini-submarine in Lake Baikal, and even a Russian 'troika', a traditional sleigh pulled by three horses.
Some 14,000 torchbearers will be involved, and 130 million Russians will be able to see it."  - http://siberiantimes.com/sport/others/news/olympic-flame-to-warm-siberia-on-longest-torch-relay-in-history/

That's realy cool!!!

Right now,  Olympic torch is in the space. Unbelievable!!!!!! "The torch will be brought back to Earth by Russian Fyodor Yurchikhin, American astronaut Karen Nyberg and European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano on 11 November. It then continues the 40,000-mile (65,000km) relay that has taken it to the North Pole on an atomic-powered ice breaker and will reach Europe's highest peak, Mount Elbrus, as well as the depths of Siberia's Lake Baikal." - http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/nov/07/olympic-torch-goes-on-spacewalk

Unbelievable, just unbelievable!

You wouldn't believe!!!!

Folks!!!!! You wouldn't believe!
Yesterday, we were going to catch some sun and warm ocean in Bellevue Beach. It's not so far from St.John's, 110 km. It's a quiet and neat place for relaxation with family and kids.

BUT!!! After that, we wanted to find a place to eat local grub. We are on the Atlantic ocean! We were told that the best seafood restaurant close by is Dildo Dory Grill... Yes, Yes and Yes it's  Dildo Dory Grill in small town called Dildo :-) I have a proof of it:

You know, it is a pretty good restaurant! We ordered Calamari, Dildo Signature Chowder and   Moose burger with home-grown potatoes.............. It was so delicious that we didn't want to go home.

  Alas, it was time to go home. But in last second, my boyfriend ordered  Blueberry Crisp.......... It..... It...... It was heavenly!!! Everyone should try it!!!!!!!!!

Thereafter, we were so stuffed we could barely walk.

It was our Aug 17, 2013 - amazing day on the Bellevue Beach with dinner at the Dildo Dory Grill.

I still cannot believe that name of this peaceful place is Dildo.... :-)

The Royal St. John’s Regatta 2013

    This historic regatta is the oldest continuing sporting event in North America. The event continues to draw in excess of 50,000 spectators each year and is a major focal point of summer activities in the St. John's area.

The 195th Royal St.John's Regatta was today.  From 8:30 am till 8:00 pm there are exciting races,  interesting  games with prizes, and popular festivities:

On this day, the city of St.John's allowed us to use metro-bus serves just for 1$ for a ride - it's a good deal! (Usually, we are paying 2.25$)

Of course, there were a lot of variety of foods; we could not walk away from the delicious blue mussels:

If you have a chance to visit The Royal St. John’s Regatta next time - you should definitely use this opportunity and enjoy the oldest event in North America!!!

Cell phone company

Yesterday, we went to return my cell phone (it has been freezing very often). Everything was good till an associate began to activate my new cell phone. Their system did not want to activate my new phone. They could not give us the phone without activation. The associate asked us to wait about an hour.
I said:
- Ok, not a problem.  Give me a different cell phone that I can use for this hour; I have my  SIM card, I will insert my SIM card into the cell phone. I'm expecting an important call.
After that, I heard the amazing answer:
- We can't do it. It's not possible.
What a .......???? It's the easiest service! You are the CELL PHONE COMPANY! And you CAN"T do it??? ...............................................
All in all, I spent an hour without a cell phone. I'm not addicted to phones, but I was waiting for an important cal!
When I got my new phone, they gave me a free case for the cell phone. It was kind :-)

Not everything is perfect, and sometimes we encounter unexpected unpleasant or generous deeds.

Mother's day is coming!

Hi everyone!  How are you doing today? I hope you are good!

  Like a typical female I like all crafts, especially scrapbooking and embroidery. It helps me to be distracted from my daily routines. Meanwhile, my friends visit me sometimes, like all of us :-)  And once, one guy saw my projects and asked me to make a card for his mother for a special occasion. I should mention that he is a really sweet man. He asked me to make card for a special holiday called March 8th. It's like our Mother's day. You can find more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Women's_Day

   We talk about symbols of this event; it's mimosas and tulips. Because I don't have yellow powder for heat embossing, I decided to make a tulip. And in the end I had this:

   For the internal surface of the card I made a stencil with a flower and I was using heating embossing to create it. If you do not have a heating gun, you can use a toaster or an oven (I used an oven :-). For exterior surfaces, I used embossing machine, cut and pasted a line of paper that had the same color as the card, and tied the ribbon with a small bow. On the back, I did a stamp with my logo :-)

    It's easy to make if you have the following things:

1. embossing machine;
2. embossing folder;
3. embossing powder;
4. embossing pad;
5. clean postcard and envelop;
6. glue;
7. red ribbon;
8. scissors;
9. stamp with your name and a stamp pad.

    Oh, it's a lot of things... I never imagined that... Huh...

   Anyway, it's simple to do. If you have any questions, please ask! I would love to help :-)

Shallow Bay and Western Brook Pond

   On the next day, we did that we wanted. We had a breakfast on the Shallow Bay Beach (It was awesome!!!! ) and had a small tour of the Western Brook Pond. The pictures will tell the story.  But one situation I'm going to describe you and you will understand why. So, the day began with Shallow Bay beach:

  The most impressive thing about this beach is that you can go really far from shore, deep into the ocean, and still water will cover just you legs. Do you see small dot in the middle of the picture?  This is how far a person  was able to walk.

  Next, we went to the Western Brook Pond. The tour was starting at 12:30, but we came much earlier. From parking lot to the pier we walked about 2 may be 2,5 km.

 It was not so bad, we were lucky: weather was perfect, warm and without rain, sunny. One important advise: make a reservation for the tour!!!! As you can guess, we did not .... We came to the pier 40 minutes before the tour. It was crowded.  We walked around and missed the moment when stuff started to sell tickets :-( When it was our tern to buy a place on a ship all tickets were sold out.... We were confused: we must go back to St.John's today, tomorrow we have to go to work, we spend two days on the road and can not see Western Brook Pond - the most impressive and gorgeous place in the World?
  The officer said that if people who did the reservation do not come we can have their seats, but we should wait until last moment, until 12:30. Can you imagine how we prayed and wanted to have this seats? Besides, we were not along, there were several people like us! To our luck we were first in the line.
   Hallelujah!!! People did not came and we had this tickets. We were the happiest couple at that moment :-) Unfortunately, people behind us were not so lucky :-( Advise of the day:  make a reservation!!!
     I dreamed  to see Norwegian fjords  all of my life; I guess they look very similar:

      It was such a satisfied and remarkable trip!!!

      I just have one question to those who were in the Norwegian fjords, is it really similar?
